You can love, dear Prince.
The sunlight that
catches your eye
through the horizontal blinds
knows this.
That Ray sees down,
beneath the fires
of your soul, to the
cool, still waters under.
The waters hold the
memories,
A mother’s smile returned.
Grandfather’s firm handshake.
Tears for a friend who left home.
The waters hold the
Love you had for these,
Dear Prince.
No need to shift your
eyes in mistrust
or feel palms twitch
and perspire with anxiety.
You have lived
And been loved
In return.
The same rays of
sun that shine through you, travel vast distances.
The sun loves all
and shines
without fear of
an ungrateful universe.
The rays know humans
ungrateful nature,
So why fear what it already knows?
Do you see, dear Prince?
It is not the fear of loving
but of love being returned.
learn from the sun,
Dear Prince,
she is the wisest of us all.
